The Lagos State Police Command rejects a viral social media advisory

The Lagos State Police Command has refuted a widely circulated social media advisory suggesting a rise in kidnappings along the Gbagada Expressway. This clarification was issued in a statement by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, on Monday. Hundeyin emphasized that the Lagos State Police Command did not release such a security warning and labeled the claim as unfounded.

Nevertheless, Hundeyin acknowledged the Command's awareness of the concerns highlighted in the advisory. As a response, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed a comprehensive reassessment of the security strategy across the region. This initiative involves the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders and aims to prevent potential kidnapping incidents.
