Peter Obi Says:

Tinubu should be in Guinness World Records for causing Nigerians most hardship – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential nominee, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's governance, suggesting his impact could be significant enough for inclusion in the Guinness World Records, but for unfavorable reasons. During an interview with Vanguard, Obi, who previously served as Anambra state's governor, called on Nigerians to assess Tinubu's administration since his commencement in May 2023.

Tinubu himself had proposed that his achievements since taking office were worthy of Guinness World Records recognition. Contrarily, Obi sarcastically concurred, implying that if Tinubu were to be recognized, it might be for inflicting considerable difficulties on Nigerians, as his policies have not achieved their intended outcomes.

Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, Obi noted the commitment of Nigerians, particularly the youth, towards effective governance, challenging the notion of their indifference. He criticized the elite class, including those in charge of the electoral process and government officials, for their lack of dedication to promoting good governance, which he believes influenced the election results.

Shifting the focus from the elections, Obi emphasized current governance issues, pointing out the growing poverty among Nigerians and the uncertainty surrounding basic commodity prices. He suggested that the evaluation of Tinubu's administration should come from the general population, citing their firsthand experiences with the ongoing economic challenges.
