President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a two-day official visit to the State of Qatar, with departure scheduled from Lagos on Thursday.
The invitation extended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, underscores the aim to "enhance collaboration between the two nations across various sectors, including security, cultural exchange, and economic advancement," as stated in a release by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The official statement, titled ‘President Tinubu Accepts Invitation to Visit Qatar and Engage in Business and Investment Forum,’ outlines the objectives of the visit. Ngelale emphasized, "During this visit, President Tinubu will oversee the signing of several agreements aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s real sector and promoting value-added investments across trade, education, culture, solid minerals, digital economy, agriculture, gas, and cooperation against terrorism."
Furthermore, the President will actively participate in a business and investment forum designed to convene high-ranking executives from both Nigerian and Qatari public and private sectors, facilitating discussions on cross-sectoral opportunities for mutual growth and development.
Accompanying President Tinubu on this journey will be senior government officials pertinent to the forthcoming agreements.
Qatar marks the third Gulf state visited by Tinubu since assuming office as President nine months ago, constituting his 16th international visit and his 12th foreign trip.
To date, his itinerary has included multiple visits to Paris, France; London, United Kingdom; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau; Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Novo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Berlin, Germany; and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
