Buni Declares Poblic Holiday

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has announced that Wednesday, February 7, 2024, will be a day off from work to participate in the three-day mourning prayers for the deceased former governor, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

The declaration came through a statement from Buni's spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, on Tuesday, indicating that the day should be dedicated to prayer in memory of Sen. Ibrahim, who passed away in Saudi Arabia last Sunday.

Governor Buni has called on the state's residents to spend this time praying for the eternal peace of the former governor's soul.

The mourning prayers, which are set to take place at the Government House Mosque in Damaturu, come after Sen. Ibrahim's death and burial in the sacred city.

The state government has officially assumed responsibility for the funeral and condolence ceremonies in tribute to Sen. Ibrahim. Governor Buni, along with state officials and the bereaved family, has been accepting condolences from well-wishers from both within and beyond the state at the Government House in Damaturu.
