Crisis in Kano: NNPP Passes Vote of No Confidence

Governor Abba Yusuf's style of governance has been criticised by both party members and non-party members.

A factional group within the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) across the 19 northern states has expressed a lack of confidence in Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State.

After an urgent meeting in Kano, they issued a statement demanding his resignation within 48 hours.

The group, represented by President Attahiru Musa and Secretary Simeon Pam, cited dissatisfaction with Governor Yusuf's alleged departure from the party's principles and his failure to present a clear developmental agenda for the populace.

They accuse him of engaging in political retribution, particularly targeting his predecessor, Alhaji Umar Ganduje, under the guise of an investigation, which they view as a witch-hunt.

The faction within the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has voiced their dissatisfaction with Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, citing his alleged departure from the party's principles and his failure to present a coherent developmental agenda for the populace.

They accuse him of engaging in political retribution against his predecessor, Alhaji Umar Ganduje, under the guise of an investigation, which they perceive as a witch-hunt.

The faction asserts that Kano State, once seen as a model for good governance and leadership, has fallen short of expectations.

They lament the lack of clear ideology and developmental plans from the party, and they criticize Governor Yusuf for focusing on personal vendettas while neglecting the welfare of the masses.

Additionally, they highlight the absence of tangible progress despite increased allocations to the state since President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.

The NNPP stakeholders criticize Governor Abba Yusuf for resorting to propaganda and manipulating state-owned institutions to deflect attention from his perceived inefficiency and lack of direction.

They lament that Kano State has gained notoriety as a "theatre of absurdity" under his leadership. The stakeholders argue that Governor Yusuf's inability to deliver results over the past year has brought shame upon the NNPP and exposed the party to public ridicule.
