Residents of the Iru Egbede community in Edo State's Orhionmwon Local Government Area have been devastated by the sudden disappearance of Faith Omodon, a 19-year-old Delta State University 200-level student.
Omodon, a Business Administration student, was last seen on March 30, before she left for her dad's farm.The girl's father, Edward, confirmed that she had vanished and said the incident happened at the Iru National Conference.
"We typically organize the conference around this time of the year. We were seated in the community hall as we heard loud wailing outside, indicating that my daughter was missing.
"She had left for the farm the day before with a motorbike taking her meal with her," he went on to say.
Ikpoba Johnbull, the head of the village vigilante group, confirmed his story, saying that shortly as the news of the girl's disappearing spread that evening, he and his men followed the mother of the child to the farm.
He went on to say, "We immediately mobilised and searched the area up to Izighiri and Uwumuwe, two neighbouring villages, but found no trace of her.
Ikpoba Johnbull, the head of the village vigilante group, confirmed his story, saying that shortly as the news of the girl's disappearing spread that evening, he and his men followed the mother of the child to the farm.
He went on to say, "We immediately mobilised and searched the area up to Izighiri and Uwumuwe, two neighbouring villages, but found no trace of her.
"We only found the leftovers in her flask. We notified our neighbouring vigilante groups as we spent the night in the bushes, but nothing happened.
"We then advised Omodon to formally report a case of missing person at the Abudu Police Division."
Mr Donald Egboko, the community's National Youth Chairman, lamented that his people were depressed and devastated by their missing daughter and urged security agencies to assist in locating her.
When contacted, Divisional Police Officer Mr Iyayi Kenneth confirmed that the incident was reported at the station, saying, "We have transferred the case to the state police command for further investigation."
"We then advised Omodon to formally report a case of missing person at the Abudu Police Division."
