Gbolahan Oyedemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Police Force Criminal and Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State, claimed to have committed suicide on Monday in his own residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
According to The GoodyNews, Oyedemi worked as the Aide de Camp to the state's late former Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his 11-month tenure as de facto governor in 2006.A source close to the family told our reporter on the phone on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital, that Oyedemi, who usually visits his home town during Easter, told his aides over the long weekend to go to their specific towns to celebrate with their relatives.
The source stated, "Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his home yesterday (Monday). He lives on his own and usually returns home for Easter celebrations.
"This time, he instructed the staff to go celebrate with their relatives in their own homes. "Only God knows what caused him to commit suicide."
All attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were not successful because his cell phone was unreachable.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi's passing.
"This time, he instructed the staff to go celebrate with their relatives in their own homes. "Only God knows what caused him to commit suicide."
All attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were not successful because his cell phone was unreachable.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi's passing.
Funmilayo added that the details surrounding his death were still unclear.
"No one can say precisely what caused his death until a probe is conducted. There has been no formal announcement from the Inspector General of Police yet.
